The series spins a high-concept setup: two strangers enter a 90-day “fake newlywed” pact to hang on to a luxury newlywed apartment giveaway. The catch? They have to convince everyone they’re the real deal―while trying not to catch real feelings in the process.
As anticipation builds, here are the big reasons "Would You Marry Me" is on watch lists.
First up, fan favorites Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min team as an irresistibly charming pretend couple. Choi, known for his versatile turns, plays Kim Woo-joo, the fourth-generation heir to Myungsundang, billed as Korea’s first bakery. Jung brings her rom-com A-game as Yoo Meri, a bride-to-be who suddenly needs a stand-in husband to fix a life gone sideways.
The duo’s chemistry is the headline: expect swoony visuals, an adorable height difference, and improv-friendly banter that keeps scenes buzzing. Their quick, in-sync timing promises both sweet flutter and laugh-out-loud moments.
They’re backed by a colorful ensemble: Bae Nara is Baek Sang-hyeon, the ever-watchful neighbor keeping tabs on the “newlyweds.” Shin Seul-gi plays Yoon Jin-kyung, Woo-joo’s confidante and resident expert in one-sided crushes. Seo Beom-jun stirs the pot as Meri’s ex-fiance―also named Kim Woo-joo―turning up the drama with audacious timing. Expect the ensemble’s distinct flavors to heighten the stakes and the fun.
At the heart of the show is a survival-style rom-com mission. After a cheating scandal, a broken engagement, and a housing scam that wipes out her savings, Meri lucks into a prize: a top-tier newlywed apartment. There’s just one requirement―she needs a husband named Kim Woo-joo to claim it. Enter a different Kim Woo-joo (Choi Woo-shik), who agrees to a paper marriage after some hard bargaining. For 90 days―the grace period before the title transfers―they must keep their arrangement secret. Cue sweet-and-spicy strategies, escalating close calls, and a romance that starts to feel a little too real.
"Would You Marry Me" premieres tonight (Oct. 10) at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS.
