Actor Song Kang, 31, wrapped his 18-month mandatory duty and was honorably discharged as an Army sergeant on the morning of Oct. 1.

Outside his unit’s gate, he thanked the fans who showed up to welcome him back. In black horn-rimmed glasses and a close-cropped cut, his clear, glowing skin and playful smile stood out. Seated in the back of a black car, he beamed and offered a quick salute, going the extra mile for supporters who waited a year and a half.

Song enlisted in April 2024 and kept a solid record throughout his service. He appeared in the Ministry of National Defense’s Counseling Center PSA and was even spotted on leave with BTS’s V, hinting at a good-spirited time in uniform.

Fresh off discharge, Song is set to return quickly with the new drama "Four Hands," titled after the piano term for two players sharing one keyboard. He’ll play a prodigy pianist with refined, razor-sharp charisma ― a more mature turn that has fans eager to see what new layers he brings to the screen.
