Comedian Lee Kyung-kyu, 65, used a new YouTube video with his daughter Lee Ye-rim, 30, to apologize to his family amid scrutiny over his recent traffic incident.
In a Sept. 25 upload on his channel, Lee received his first-ever birthday meal cooked by his daughter. "Ye-rim once asked, 'Dad, what are you to me?' and I told her, 'I'm your rock,'" he recalled. "Her friends thought that was cool. These days, though, that rock feels like it's crumbling," he added, half-joking, half-earnest.
"You can only lean on it if you're ready to handle it when it gives way. You can't just stand by and feel sorry," Ye-rim replied. When Lee asked how she felt when things were "crumbling," she admitted, "I wondered where I should live. Do I need to leave Korea?"
"Why would you leave? I'm the one who caused the accident," Lee said, taking the blame. The clip ended with the on-screen message, "Dad is sorry."
Back on June 8, Lee was investigated after a minor fender-bender; he had taken medication for panic disorder along with cold medicine before driving, and video showed him staggering on the roadway. On Sept. 24, Seoul’s Gangnam Police summoned him on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act. Lee told investigators he hadn’t fully recognized he shouldn’t drive after taking medication and said he would be more careful going forward.
Lee Ye-rim married FC Anyang defender Kim Young-chan, 31, on Dec. 11, 2021, after four years of dating.
