K-pop girl group RESCENE is setting the record straight after a viral livestream sparked “abuse” rumors online. When loud shouts and a scream were heard during a recent broadcast, the members addressed it directly through their fan community and additional livestreams, clarifying what really happened.

During one member’s live session, a man’s shout and a woman’s scream were suddenly picked up on mic.

Some viewers seized on member MAY’s startled reaction and spun it into speculation about the “dark side of K-pop,” with comments dramatizing it as a “bloodcurdling roar.” The rumor mill quickly gained traction.

A label representative pushed back, explaining, “Our office is on a street in Seoul’s Nonhyeon-dong, so when the windows are open, outside noise can carry in.” The rep added that the neighborhood is lined with bars and late-night spots, and similar street noise has slipped into past livestreams as well.

To reassure fans, MAY posted in the group’s community: “The company and the artists have an equal relationship, and our CEO and staff put us first and take great care of us.” She continued, “I’m writing because many people were worried after seeing only the clip. The sound definitely came from outside, not from our side, so please don’t worry.”

The member who hosted the livestream―and others―also went live to echo the message that there’s nothing to worry about and that the rumors are unfounded. The video at the center of the chatter remains up on RESCENE’s official YouTube channel.
