ZEROBASEONE leader Sung Hanbin issued another apology on a fan platform after backlash grew over an inappropriate remark he made on a YouTube show.
Posting on Bubble on Sept. 7, he wrote, "I'm sorry that my careless words and behavior in the 'Ggondaehee' video released on the 6th made people uncomfortable." He added, "I was nervous and didn't think things through, and I used an expression that wasn't appropriate." He continued, "There was no other intent, but I'm ashamed and truly sorry to anyone who felt offended by my shortcomings."
Earlier, Sung appeared on YouTube channel Ggondaehee with member Seok Matthew and jokingly mimicked a moan as a car went over a speed bump ― a moment many viewers criticized for sexual innuendo.
He addressed fans soon after, saying, "I got carried away trying to be funny on a show. To ZEROSE who may have felt uncomfortable, I'm truly sorry." As criticism persisted, he posted a longer statement the next day.
"This made me realize how much more carefully I need to speak and act," he wrote. "I'll move forward with more responsibility and maturity, and I'll prove it with my actions so I don't let you down."
