Actor Song Ha-yoon has filed another complaint against “A,” the whistleblower who first raised school-bullying allegations. In response, A―currently overseas―says they will return to Korea soon, sit for police questioning, and file a countersuit accusing Song of making a false report.
According to Song’s team, on the 22nd of last month they submitted an additional complaint against A on charges including defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, obstruction of business by fraudulent means, and criminal intimidation. The filing targets A’s second and third statements posted on online communities.
Speaking to a media outlet, A criticized the move, saying, “It feels like they want to take this all the way. Instead of reflecting, they’re dodging responsibility.” A added, “The perpetrator is suing the victim. If there had been an apology, I wouldn’t have gone public.”
A, a U.S. citizen and overseas Korean, is legally residing in the United States but says they plan to return to Korea soon to cooperate with the investigation and file a countersuit against Song for false accusation.
The controversy first erupted last April on JTBC’s program “Crime Chief,” where A claimed they were assaulted for 90 minutes by an upperclassman―identified by A as Song Ha-yoon. A alleged that in 2004, while attending Banpo High School, they were attacked without provocation by a clique that included Song.
A also asserted that Song was involved in another school-violence incident, received a level-8 disciplinary action, and was forcibly transferred to Gujeong High School. After the broadcast, several posts surfaced on online communities from purported classmates who said they witnessed related incidents at the time.
Song’s agency has denied the allegations as baseless and said it has filed a criminal complaint against A.
