Actress Yeom Hye-ran is set to reveal a side of herself never seen before in Director Park Chan-wook's new film 'No Other Choice'.
'No Other Choice' tells the story of 'Mansoo' (played by Lee Byung-hun), a company worker who thought he had everything in life until he suddenly gets laid off. To protect his wife and two children, and to save the house he worked hard to buy, he prepares for his own battle to re-enter the workforce.
Yeom Hye-ran, who has won the Best Supporting Actress award in the television category at the Baeksang Arts Awards two years in a row for her authentic performances in the Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' and 'Mask Girl', and has been active in dramas like 'When the Camellia Blooms' and movies like 'Citizen of a Kind', promises a stunning transformation in her role as 'Ara' in 'No Other Choice'.
Despite repeated failures in auditions, 'Ara', a character who never loses her confidence and romanticism, is an artist at heart with a rich emotional world. Yeom Hye-ran vividly portrays 'Ara's complex emotions as she becomes disillusioned with her husband 'Beom-mo' (played by Lee Sung-min) after he loses his job, yet nostalgically misses the passionate man she once loved. Together, Lee Sung-min and Yeom Hye-ran create a realistic portrayal of a couple navigating through affection and ennui, adding a special flavor to the film.
On her role as 'Ara', Yeom Hye-ran shared, "This is a character I've never had the chance to play before," sparking curiosity about her unique transformation in 'No Other Choice'.
Director Park Chan-wook expressed his deep trust in Yeom Hye-ran, saying, "I was confident in Yeom Hye-ran from the start. She brought so much fun and authenticity to her role. Watching the 'Beom-mo' and 'Ara' couple will be a real treat for the audience."
'No Other Choice' is scheduled for release in September.
