E.O.S Original Member Kang Lin Passes Away Last Month; Police Report No Signs of Foul Play

Kang Lin (real name Kang In-gu), a first-generation member of the 1990s Euro techno sensation E.O.S, has passed away at the age of 58.

According to a report by Financial News on the 4th, Kang Lin was found deceased on July 31st in a hotel in Yeouido, Seoul. The police have stated there were no signs of foul play, and the exact cause of death has yet to be disclosed.

A graduate of Yonsei University's composition department, Kang Lin debuted in the music industry in 1993 as part of the trio E.O.S, alongside Kim Hyung-jung (vocals) and Ko Seok-young (guitar). As a keyboardist, he participated in the group's first album, gaining attention for its experimental sound based on European techno music. The first album, which featured contributions from top musicians of the time like Shin Hae-chul, Yoon Sang, Lee Seung-chul, and Son Mu-hyeon, was a notable event in the music industry for its unique composition.

Although Kang Lin did not participate as a member in E.O.S's second album, he contributed as a producer, leaving his mark on hit songs like "You're Not a Stranger" and "Dream, Fantasy, and Illusion." The second album, which combined Euro techno with lyrical melodies, was widely loved for its original musicality.

After leaving E.O.S, Kang Lin formed a new project group called "Lynn O&X" in 1995 and continued his activities. He is known to have continued his career as a producer, working on albums for artists like Marie Jane and Zett.

Meanwhile, the exact circumstances of his death are expected to be revealed following a police investigation.
