'The King of Kings' Surpasses 1 Million Viewers in Just 19 Days, Claiming the Top Spot in 2025 Animation Box Office

The global K-Animation hit 'The King of Kings' has broken through the 1 million viewer mark nationwide in just 19 days after its release.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie ticket sales, 'The King of Kings' attracted 56,417 people nationwide on its 3rd day, securing the 3rd spot at the box office. The cumulative audience count has reached 1,014,356 viewers.

With this achievement, 'The King of Kings' has surpassed 'Attack on Titan: The Last Attack' to become the top-grossing animated film of 2025. It is also the only animated film released this year to break through the 1 million viewer milestone. Additionally, it ranks 9th in the overall Korean movie box office for 2025 and 16th among all movies, showcasing its presence in a competitive summer cinema season.

In the history of Korean animation box office success, it ranks 4th, following 'Leafie: A Hen into the Wild', 'Heartsping : Teenieping of Love', and 'Speckles: The Tarbosaurus 3D'.

Director Jang Sung-ho, upon reaching the 1 million viewer milestone, expressed his gratitude to the audience. He shared a heartfelt message of thanks, handwritten with a drawing of the character 'Jesus', saying, "Thank you to all the viewers. Let's go, Korean cinema! Let's go, Korean animation!"

'The King of Kings' is a global blockbuster K-Animation that depicts a journey back to the greatest story ever told 2000 years ago, undertaken by the renowned British author Charles Dickens and his youngest son, Walter. The film, which has received rave reviews from audiences, continues its long-term box office success and is currently showing in theaters nationwide.
