Ahn Hyo-seop, who plays the titular role in the movie 'Omniscient Reader: The Prophet', shared his mindset of "striving to create my own version of Kim Dokja".
During the press screening and roundtable for 'Omniscient Reader: The Prophet' held at COEX Megabox in Seoul on the afternoon of the 15th, Ahn Hyo-seop revealed, "When I first encountered the script, I didn't realize how massive this IP (intellectual property) was. The screenplay alone was incredibly entertaining."

Being cast as the lead in such a globally celebrated IP, the pressure was undoubtedly high. Ahn Hyo-seop discussed his approach to the character of Kim Dokja, saying, "I thought about creating my own version of the character. As the director said, I aimed to make the film understandable and persuasive even to those who haven't read the original work."
He continued, "I see my Kim Dokja as starting from ground zero. While the original work might have him solving cases in a cool and clear-cut manner, I wanted to question whether anyone in his position could make the same choices. I aimed to portray a realistic character, not just a heroic or fearless one, constantly pondering how a person would act in such situations."
Ahn Hyo-seop also highlighted the differences between this character and his previous roles. "Kim Dokja is the protagonist but doesn't feel like one. The protagonists I've played before had something special about them. However, Kim Dokja's greatest weapon is his ordinariness and simplicity. This was a more typical character than I've ever played before, and I'm curious how well I can convince the audience with it."

'Omniscient Reader: The Prophet' is a fantasy action movie where the world of a novel, which has been serialized for over ten years, becomes reality on the day it concludes. Kim Dokja, the novel's sole reader, along with the novel's protagonist 'Yoo Joonghyuk' and their allies, must survive in this doomed world. The film is set to premiere on the 23rd.
