Actress Song Ha-yoon has taken legal action against allegations of school violence surrounding her.
A year after the allegations were made, Song Ha-yoon's team has criminally sued the original informant and is considering additional measures in the United States.
Song Ha-yoon's legal representative, Law Firm Jieum, announced on the 2nd that "the school violence allegations raised last year are unfounded, and we have secured numerous pieces of evidence to support this claim, which have been submitted to the investigative authorities."
Jieum stated, "We have criminally sued Mr. Oh for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and for obstruction of business by deceit, and the police investigation is currently underway. Mr. Oh, residing in the United States, has been unresponsive to the investigation, leading the police to issue a wanted notice in May, placing him on the wanted list." They added, "Mr. Oh claims to be a U.S. citizen, but government checks have confirmed he still holds South Korean nationality."
It was also confirmed that the alleged witness to the assault denied such claims.
Song Ha-yoon's team reported, "A high school classmate, whom Mr. Oh pointed out, clearly stated they had never witnessed or heard of such an assault, and this was communicated to Mr. Oh as well. We have also reached out to the homeroom teacher from that time, who confirmed that the claim of Song Ha-yoon being forced to transfer schools due to school violence was unheard of, and many classmates have stated, 'Song Ha-yoon is not someone who would harm others'."
Song Ha-yoon has been on hiatus since the school violence controversy last April.
Jieum mentioned, "This issue has severely damaged the honor that has been built over 22 years as an actress, causing extreme mental distress. We believe that revealing the truth through an objective investigation is a priority, which is why the response has taken some time."
Song Ha-yoon, currently without a management contract, is preparing to resume her activities. She expressed, "I apologize for causing concern to those who have believed in and supported me. I will strive to greet you again with a humble and mature attitude in a new environment."
