Comedian Son Min-hyuk has become a father four years after getting married.
On the morning of June 28th at 9:06, Son Min-hyuk welcomed his son, nicknamed "Ji-goo," into his arms. The baby weighed in at 2.98kg. Born via cesarean section, Ji-goo cried out healthily into the world, and the mother is also recovering well without any major issues.
Son Min-hyuk expressed his overwhelming emotions, saying, "I still can't believe it every time I see Ji-goo. It's hard to believe this child is mine, it feels like I'm dreaming." He added, "I promised myself I wouldn't cry when I first met my son, but I ended up sobbing uncontrollably at the sound of Ji-goo's crying. The nurse said she'd never seen a dad cry more than the baby before," sharing a humorous yet touching episode.
There were concerns for the mother's health as well. Son Min-hyuk shared, "My wife had to undergo a cesarean section due to a history of fibroid surgery. We were worried, but fortunately, the surgery went well, and she's recovering steadily, helped by her consistent exercise, even from the bed."
Son Min-hyuk currently runs a YouTube channel 'HaoTV' with his wife, boasting 190,000 subscribers. Recently, he made headlines by gifting his wife a car on a five-year installment plan to celebrate her pregnancy. With their two dogs, Hao and Jjao, and now Ji-goo, the family has grown to a happy household of five.
Regarding future plans, Son Min-hyuk said, "I'm running a doggy daycare and grooming shop, and now with another spoon added to our table, I need to work even harder. I'd also like to try for a pet behavior specialist certification. I want to expand into pet content rather than comedy on my broadcasts," sharing his new dreams. He also mentioned, "Becoming a father at a later age means I need to focus on my fitness, so I plan to start exercising again."
Lastly, he shared a heartfelt message to his wife:
"To the mother of Ji-goo, I mean, Jung-min. Thank you so much for carrying Ji-goo for over 10 months and giving birth to him healthily. With Hao, Jjao, and now Ji-goo, you're already an amazing mom. I look forward to our future together, and I'll try to be a great dad just like the character Gwan-sik in 'When Life Gives You Tangerines.' Let's live a more fun and happy life!"
Meanwhile, Son Min-hyuk debuted as a comedian through SBS's open recruitment in 2006 and was loved for his fake Chinese language skills in the 'Hao and Chao' segment of 'People Looking for a Laugh.' He won the Excellence Award in the comedy category at the SBS Entertainment Awards in 2011. Son Min-hyuk married an office worker six years his junior in 2021, and the couple runs the YouTube account 'HaoTV' with 190,000 subscribers.
