Prosecutors have sought a two-year prison sentence for a defendant who has subjected actress Shin Sae-kyoung to years of relentless cyberbullying.

The Present Company, Shin Sae-kyoung's agency, announced on the 26th that the prosecution has demanded a two-year prison term for the defendant charged with continuous cyber harassment against the actress.

According to the agency, the defendant anonymously used online platforms over a long period to threaten, maliciously slander, spread false information, and make derogatory remarks not only against the actress herself but also targeting her fans, family, and acquaintances. This has caused severe emotional distress not only to the actress but also to those around her. The defendant has been arrested by the police and is currently awaiting the first trial, marking an unusual move in cases of malicious comments.

The Present Company stated, "We have secured numerous pieces of evidence related to additional malicious posts and cyberbullies and plan to respond with the same standards in future similar cases."

During the trial, the defendant's legal representative pleaded for leniency, stating, "The defendant, who has lived a reclusive life, hopes to re-enter society and is currently working part-time for 14 hours a week." The defendant also admitted to all charges. Considering the repeated threats and the severity of the malicious comments, the prosecution has requested a two-year prison sentence.

The agency emphasized, "Our top priority is to protect the legal rights of our artists and employees, and we will not consider any leniency for the perpetrator. We will use all legal means to respond firmly and decisively to any similar actions in the future. To prevent innocent people from suffering due to someone's distorted desires, perpetrators must face corresponding responsibilities under the principles of law and justice, no matter how long it takes."

The agency also expressed gratitude, saying, "The valuable reports from our fans have been a great support."
