Doctor Chun Geun-ah from Severance Hospital's Pediatric Psychiatry Department expressed her gratitude towards BTS's SUGA (Min Yoongi) for his generous donation of 5 billion won towards the construction of the 'Min Yoongi Center'.
In a video released on the Severance Hospital YouTube channel on the 24th, Doctor Chun remarked, "This center is a miracle that fulfills a dream I've held in my heart for a long time. I've always thought it would be wonderful if our hospital could offer programs to help children with autism spectrum disorders grow into adults capable of social independence."
Previously, on the 23rd, SUGA had donated 5 billion won for the establishment of the 'Min Yoongi Treatment Center', aimed at treating and supporting the social independence of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders. The Min Yoongi Treatment Center, set to be completed in September, will offer a variety of programs including language, psychological, and behavioral therapy to support the mental health of children and adolescents, as well as integrating clinical research.
Last November, SUGA, who has shown a deep interest in the mental health issues of children and adolescents, approached Doctor Chun to express his willingness to donate his musical talents.
Doctor Chun shared, "I was deeply impressed when I first met SUGA. He had read a significant portion of a 500-page textbook I wrote and asked very insightful questions. Watching him from the preparation to the program execution, I realized he was not just a simple donor. Seeing him arrive early to prepare and hold preliminary meetings with therapists made me feel profoundly moved."
Furthermore, Doctor Chun emphasized, "This center was made possible thanks to the financial support and talent donation from BTS member SUGA. It aims to use music for social skills training, along with direct rehabilitation programs for independence. Even children who struggle to express their emotions or language can communicate through music and naturally interact with others, which is the center's purpose."
