Actor Kim Soo-hyun has filed a lawsuit against the late Kim Sae-ron's family and Kim Se-ui, the head of the YouTube channel 'Hover Lab', on charges of false accusation on the 23rd.
According to a source, on the 23rd, Kim Soo-hyun's representatives submitted a complaint for false accusation charges at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul.
On the 7th of last month, the family's legal representative, Attorney Boo Ji-seok, and Kim Se-ui, the head of Hover Lab, held a press conference announcing that they had filed a lawsuit against Kim Soo-hyun for violation of the Child Welfare Act and false accusation charges.
Notably, during this press conference, Kim Se-ui played a recording through YouTube, claiming it was a conversation Kim Sae-ron had with a friend during her lifetime, including phrases like "the first time was during the winter break of my second year in middle school" and "I felt used".
Immediately following the press conference, Kim Soo-hyun's side claimed that the recording seemed to be a voice file manipulated using AI technology, denouncing it as "a criminal act intended to obliterate the actor's character with completely fabricated evidence" and promised strong legal action.
The reason it took over a month for Kim Soo-hyun's side to proceed with the false accusation lawsuit appears to be due to legal constraints.
To file a lawsuit for false accusation, the plaintiff must first be identified, which was achieved on the 13th through a request to view the complaint, leading to this false accusation lawsuit.
Meanwhile, Kim Se-ui of Hover Lab had previously exposed in March that Kim Soo-hyun started dating Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. In response, Kim Soo-hyun's side has stated that there was no relationship with Kim Sae-ron during her minor years, and they only dated for a year after she became an adult, also filing a lawsuit against the family and Kim Se-ui for damages amounting to 12 billion won.
Additionally, they have filed complaints for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and for violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes.
