
The fantasy animation film 'KPop Demon Hunters', blending K-Pop with the occult, has taken the world by storm.
According to FlixPatrol, a global OTT platform viewership ranking site, 'KPop Demon Hunters' released on Netflix on the 20th has clinched the top spot in the global TV show category for two consecutive days since its release.
Not only in South Korea but also in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and a total of 26 countries, it has reached number one, with a successful entry into the top 10 in a total of 93 countries. This is an increase of 64 countries compared to the first day.
'KPop Demon Hunters' is an action fantasy animation that tells the story of K-Pop superstars 'Lumi', 'Mira', and 'Joy' who act as hidden heroes protecting the world behind their glamorous stages.
Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse', the film was co-directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, with Korean-Canadian director Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans at the helm. Actor Ahn Hyo-seop took on the role of the mysterious 'Jinwoo', venturing into English dubbing for the first time, while Lee Byung-hun voiced the main villain 'Guima', participating in both Korean and English dubbing.
'KPop Demon Hunters' is considered a meaningful project that goes beyond the simple 'globalization of K-Content' to show the trend of 'K-culturalization of global content', with the participation of Asian creators, K-POP, and Korean actors.
