A participant from ENA and SBS Plus's 'I Am Solo', who flaunted their wealth on the show, has been sued for selling counterfeit luxury brand items.
According to JTBC's 'Crime Chief' on the 28th, informant A revealed that in February, they attended a charity auction hosted by B, a contestant from 'I Am Solo' who had gained attention on the show. A won a necklace from a luxury brand that B had worn on the broadcast, only to later discover it was a fake and filed a lawsuit for fraud.
On the show, A stated, "I bought the Van Cleef & Arpels necklace through this auction for 2.2 million won. However, a month later, another attendee who won a Cartier bracelet for 1.4 million won at the same event found out it was counterfeit. So, I checked mine and discovered it was fake too. I naturally assumed it was genuine when I made the purchase."
The necklace and bracelet bought by A and others turned out to be generic jewelry that could be purchased at any jeweler, not luxury brands. The appraised value of the necklace was about 1 million won, and the bracelet was about 700,000 won, meaning both individuals paid more than double the items' actual values.
In response, 'I Am Solo' contestant B told the informant, "I bought the necklace from a jeweler. There's no case, but I have a certificate." Adding, "I never said they were genuine. You can't get the real thing for that price. I'll refund the money if you return the item."
According to 'Crime Chief', the lawsuit filed by informant A has been forwarded to the prosecution, and the case involving the bracelet buyer is currently under police investigation.
