Actor Lee Byung-hun has been chosen as the focus of this year's Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival's special actor showcase, titled "The Master: Lee Byung-hun".

"The Master: Lee Byung-hun" will offer a variety of programs for audiences to enjoy alongside the actor. From July 4th to 13th, over the course of nine days, Lee Byung-hun will share his acting journey through screenings of his signature films, a photo and memorabilia exhibition, press conferences, mega talks, special edition booklets and merchandise, and stage greetings. Anticipation is also high for Lee Byung-hun's elegant appearance on the red carpet at the BIFAN opening ceremony on July 3rd.

This year's special showcase will revisit Lee Byung-hun's 30-year acting career with screenings of 10 films, including "Joint Security Area (JSA)" (2000), "Bungee Jumping of Their Own" (2001), "A Bittersweet Life" (2005), "Once in a Summer" (2006), "I Saw the Devil" (2010), "Masquerade" (2012), "Inside Men" (2015), "The Fortress" (2017), "The Man Standing Next" (2019), and "Concrete Utopia" (2023).

BIFAN programmer Lee Jung-yeop stated, "Actor Lee Byung-hun is the true face of Korean cinema, effortlessly crossing genre boundaries and presenting new facets in each of his works." He added, "We hope this special showcase, offering a comprehensive look at his acting world, will draw a lot of interest and participation."

Since 2017, BIFAN has been selecting leading contemporary actors to feature in its special actor showcases, previously highlighting stars such as Jeon Do-yeon, Jung Woo-sung, Kim Hye-soo, Sul Kyung-gu, Choi Min-sik, and Son Ye-jin. This year's "The Master: Lee Byung-hun" promises to add even more distinction to the 29th BIFAN, which will take place from July 3rd to 13th across Bucheon.
