The SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'The Haunted Palace', written by Yoon Soo-jung and directed by Yoon Sung-sik, is a fantasy romantic comedy that twists fate, love, and vengeance into a compelling narrative. It tells the story of Yeori, a shaman who denies her destiny, and Gangcheol, a dragon trapped in the body of Yeori's first love, Yoon-gap, as they face off against a vengeful eight-foot-tall ghost entangling their souls and bodies with the royal family. The drama mixes an intriguing possession plot with stellar character performances, court mysteries, and the chilling presence of Korean supernatural beings, leading to a soaring viewership.
In the latest episode, Gangcheol (played by Yook Sung-jae), Yeori (played by Kim Ji-yeon), and King Lee Jung (played by Kim Ji-hoon) joined forces to battle the eight-foot-tall ghost, gaining the upper hand but failing to vanquish it completely. Additionally, the weakened ghost caused a blind judge, Pungsan (played by Kim Sang-ho), to target the unborn child of the pregnant queen (played by Han So-eun) using the water ghost Makdol (played by Kim Jun-won), stirring chaos in the palace once again. Amidst this, Gangcheol's realization of his love for Yeori and the cliffhanger of Yeori being struck by a deadly blow, witnessed by a panicked Gangcheol, heightens anticipation for future developments.
Ahead of the broadcast of episode 7, 'The Haunted Palace' has released stills showing Gangcheol and Lee Jung in a heated fistfight in a deserted forest at night, dressed in military garb, raising questions about the reason for their meeting. The images, filled with their palpable rage, promise a tense showdown. Gangcheol, with his face bloodied, is seen being grabbed by the collar by Lee Jung, who in turn faces a threatening fist, making viewers' palms sweat with anticipation. The mystery of what led to this confrontation is eagerly awaited.
Moreover, the sight of a servant, who is actually the powerful dragon spirit, engaging in a physical fight with the king, the highest authority in the human realm, offers a fresh shock to the audience. This breaking of conventional roles adds an exciting layer to the unfolding drama in 'The Haunted Palace'.
The 'The Haunted Palace' team teased, "In the upcoming episode 7, an alliance between Gangcheol and Lee Jung unfolds as they strive to save Yeori and the queen, both teetering on the brink of death due to an attack by the water ghost Makdol." They added, "The ongoing battle of egos between Gangcheol and Lee Jung, and whether they can successfully join forces to defeat the powerful vengeful ghost, as well as save the women they love from imminent danger, is something to look forward to."
'The Haunted Palace' will air its 7th episode on the 9th at 9:55 PM.
