Actor Lee Seung-gi (38) has publicly declared his decision to sever ties with his in-laws, just two years after marrying Lee Da-in (32).

On the 29th, Lee Seung-gi released a statement saying, "There have been ongoing legal issues raised against my father-in-law, leading to a fine in a retrial. However, recent similar illegal activities have led to another indictment by the authorities." He added, "Having waited for the outcome based on family trust, I am devastated by my father-in-law's misconduct."

Previously, Lee Seung-gi married Lee Da-in in 2023 and welcomed a daughter in February of the following year. At the time of their marriage announcement, there were concerns about Lee Da-in's father, who was under trial for stock manipulation charges in 2016. Lee Seung-gi had then stated through his agency, "These were matters that occurred before our marriage and should be resolved by the family, so please refrain from targeting my family."

Lee Seung-gi expressed deep regret, saying, "I reflect deeply on my hasty comments last year regarding issues related to my father-in-law without thorough consideration. The trust within our family has been damaged to a level that is difficult to recover, and after much deliberation, my wife and I have decided to cut ties with my in-laws."

He continued, "I believe that illegal actions must be met with appropriate punishment, and I deeply apologize to the victims who suffered due to my premature judgments. I also feel deeply sorry to everyone who believed in and understood me. Moving forward, I will uphold a correct set of values and live responsibly for a healthier society."

Previously, in June of last year, the Supreme Court overturned a not guilty verdict for Lee Seung-gi's father-in-law, Mr. A, and others charged with making billions in unfair profits through stock price manipulation by false disclosures, sending the case back to the Seoul High Court.
