The much-anticipated mystery thriller 'Nine Puzzles,' directed by Yoon Jong-bin and starring Kim Da-mi and Son Seok-gu, is set to premiere on May 21.
'Nine Puzzles' follows the story of 'Ina' (played by Kim Da-mi), the only witness and a current profiler of an unsolved case from 10 years ago, and 'Han Saem' (played by Son Seok-gu), a detective who persistently suspects her as the prime suspect. Together, they unravel the secrets of a newly emerged serial murder case, piecing together mysterious puzzle fragments.
Director Yoon Jong-bin, known for his creative prowess in films and series like 'The Spy Gone North' and 'Narco-Saints,' brings a fresh and meticulously crafted style to this well-made mystery thriller.
The released poster, titled 'Memory of That Day,' captivates with its mysterious atmosphere reminiscent of a detective novel cover. It intriguingly depicts the unique path of high school student Ina on the night of the murder 10 years ago, sparking curiosity about what truly happened that day.
The visual elements, crafted by artist Yeon Ye-in, who has worked on various projects including the HBO original limited series 'The Sympathizer' special poster and the animation in Red Velvet's 'Cosmic' music video, heighten the chilling tension and anticipation for the genre thrills 'Nine Puzzle' promises to deliver.
Particularly striking is the contrast between the vivid red rope draped over a wall and the stark black-and-white tones of the poster, hinting at a murder scene and adding an eerie sense of unease. The image of high school student Ina standing under a flickering light in front of a gate, a police car parked nearby, and detective Han Saem seemingly trailing her, all amplify the suspense and intrigue surrounding 'that night.' The dynamic between Ina, who has lost her memory of the event, and detective Han Saem, who doggedly suspects her, promises a unique chemistry as they reunite in their new roles as profiler and detective.
'Nine Puzzles' will be available on Disney+ with six episodes releasing on May 21, three more on May 28, and the final two on June 4, totaling 11 episodes.
