Yook Sung-jae and Kim Ji-hoon from 'The Haunted Palace' are set to challenge traditional notions of loyalty and authority with their unique chemistry, drawing significant attention.

Premiering on Friday, the 18th, SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Haunted Palace' (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik) is a fantasy romantic comedy that twists the fate of a shaman named Yeori, who rejects her destiny as a medium. The story unfolds as her first love, Yoon Gap, becomes possessed by the dragon spirit Kang Cheol, who harbors a grudge against the royal family, leading to a tangled web of body and soul. Directed by Yoon Sung-sik, known for 'Mr. Queen', 'You Are the Best!', 'Bridal Mask', and 'Dae Jo Yeong', and written by Yoon Soo-jung, who penned 'The King's Face' and 'Cheer Up!', the drama features a fresh cast including Yook Sung-jae (as Yoon Gap/Kang Cheol), Kim Ji-yeon (as Yeori), and Kim Ji-hoon (as Lee Jeong), raising expectations.

Yook Sung-jae plays Yoon Gap, a royal librarian possessed by the mischievous dragon spirit Kang Cheol, who is also Yeori's first love. Kim Ji-hoon takes on the role of the fictional king Lee Jeong, who stands against the vengeful spirit, promising an exciting character dynamic.

On the 15th, 'The Haunted Palace' released a still of the duo, showcasing the dragon-possessed Yoon Gap and King Lee Jeong. In the image, Kang Cheol blatantly disregards royal protocol, displaying a cheeky attitude in front of King Lee Jeong, which catches the eye. While Kang Cheol's ancient dragon instincts peek through his guise as a mere servant, eliciting laughter, Lee Jeong watches him with a look that says, "Let's see how far this goes," heightening the intrigue.

Additionally, the scene captures the startled reactions of palace attendants Eung-soon (played by Kim In-kwon) and Sang-deuk (played by Kim Chan-oh), who are taken aback by the audacious confrontation between the impudent servant Kang Cheol and the monarch Lee Jeong, drawing attention to the unfolding drama.

The tension between Kang Cheol and Lee Jeong in their scenes is palpable, sparking curiosity among viewers. The fact that Yoon Gap, possessed by Kang Cheol, was once a trusted confidant of the king adds another layer of intrigue to their relationship. The audience eagerly anticipates how their dynamic, crossing the boundaries of human and spirit, king and servant, will unfold in the series.

The production team of 'The Haunted Palace' stated, "Yook Sung-jae and Kim Ji-hoon will present a fresh and delightful partnership between a king and his servant, unlike anything seen before. The two actors communicated actively on set, creating a natural chemistry. Their spontaneous ideas led to even more entertaining and memorable scenes. We hope viewers will look forward to the lively bromance between Yook Sung-jae and Kim Ji-hoon, both on and off camera."

'The Haunted Palace' is set to premiere on Friday, the 18th, at 9:50 PM, following the conclusion of 'Buried Hearts'.
