The agency of rapper NO:EL, Indigo Music, has announced that it will temporarily take over the management of his social media accounts to protect the artist.
On April 1, Indigo Music stated, "There have been numerous inappropriate comments regarding NO:EL's personal life. As a result, we have decided that it is necessary to protect the artist, and all upcoming content related to the artist will be managed by the company."
They further explained, "This measure will be in place for a certain period to ensure the artist's protection. We ask for your understanding as the company will temporarily handle all posts related to new releases and concert announcements. We also urge everyone to refrain from making inappropriate comments about the artist."
This decision by Indigo Music seems to be in response to the events following the death of NO:EL's father, former National Assembly member Jang Je-won, on March 31st. Just hours after his father's passing, NO:EL left a handwritten letter to his fans on his social media account.
In the letter, NO:EL mentioned his upcoming concert on May 31st, promising, "I will perform in even bigger venues and become an even greater artist so that you won't be embarrassed by me."
According to the police, Jang Je-won was found deceased at an officetel in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, at around 11:40 PM on the previous day. A note believed to be written by Jang Je-won was found at the scene, and the police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of his death.
Jang Je-won was recently under police investigation for allegations of sexual assault in November 2015 against his secretary, identified as A; he was a vice president at a university in Busan at the time.
