Actor Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference to personally deny the rumors of an underage relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron.
On the afternoon of the 31st, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference at a hotel in Sangam-dong, Seoul, where he tearfully refuted various allegations made by the YouTube channel 'Garo Sero Institute' (hereafter referred to as 'Gaseyeon').
Kim Soo-hyun stated, "The late Kim Sae-ron and I dated for about a year, four years before the drama 'Queen of Tears' aired."
'Queen of Tears' aired in March 2024. Kim Soo-hyun claimed that he dated Kim Sae-ron in 2020, when he was 32 and she was 20.
Kim Soo-hyun explained, "Aside from both being actors, we were just like any other couple. We had good feelings for each other, but eventually parted ways. After that, we rarely kept in touch. Like most couples who break up, it was a sensitive matter to stay in contact. Both of us were well-known actors, and when she was with the same agency as me, I was aware of how she was doing, which made it even more delicate."
He also mentioned that he couldn't reach out to her after her DUI incident. Kim Soo-hyun said, "I heard from a YouTube channel representing her family that her last agency's CEO claimed she was struggling because of me during the DUI incident. However, I understood that she was seeing someone else at that time. In such a situation, it was difficult to know what to say. We were living separate lives, and I didn't know how to approach her."
Kim Soo-hyun expressed his frustration, stating that 'Gaseyeon's' claims were not true. He said, "I receive a lot of love, but also a lot of misunderstandings. Things that aren't true circulate as if they are. I thought it was something I had to endure," he said tearfully. "The family claims that because I was her ex-boyfriend, I drove her to her death. They are pressuring me to confess to things I didn't do."
He added, "I will admit to any wrongdoings I have committed. If there's something I need to take responsibility for, I will. But I cannot admit to something I didn't do," firmly denying the allegations of an underage relationship.
On this day, Kim Soo-hyun also raised the possibility of manipulation regarding the KakaoTalk messages and audio files presented by 'Gaseyeon' as evidence of the alleged underage relationship, supporting his claims with expert opinions.
