Kim Dong-jun, a member of the group ZE:A and actor, shared his thoughts on playing the lead role of Song Sam-dong in the musical 'Again Dream High'.
At the 'Again Dream High' press conference held on the 25th at a hotel in Mapo-gu, Seoul, Kim Dong-jun explained, "I received a call from Park Kyung-lim, who said, 'Dong-jun, how about getting back on stage after a long time?' Since the musical is about dreams and the struggles that come with them, I felt it would be meaningful to share those stories on stage, which is why I decided to participate."
Park Kyung-lim, who is participating as the creative director and playing the role of the principal, praised Kim Dong-jun's rehearsal performance, saying, "He's so energetic in the rehearsal room that I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I didn't ask him to join."
The character Song Sam-dong, played by Kim Dong-jun, is a K-pop star with a global fanbase. When asked about his portrayal of Sam-dong, Kim Dong-jun said, "Among the four actors playing Sam-dong, I think I'll bring a bit more of a rugged edge. I wanted to portray a Sam-dong who is a bit aggressive and determined in pursuing his dreams."
Reflecting on his return to the stage as a musical actor after being an idol singer, Kim Dong-jun shared, "It's been about 10 years since I last performed on stage, and I've missed it. The energy exchange with the audience when they receive the message I'm conveying is unforgettable. There's a unique thrill in live performances, and I'm practicing to capture that excitement again."
'Again Dream High' is based on the 2011 KBS drama and premiered in May 2023. This season of 'Again Dream High' marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan, with simultaneous openings in both countries. The musical will run from May 5 to June 1 at the Woori Financial Art Hall in Olympic Park.
