On the 21st, Disney+ announced, "After careful consideration, we have decided to put the release of 'Knockoff' on hold."
'Knockoff' tells the story of a man whose life is turned upside down by the IMF crisis, transforming from an ordinary office worker to a kingpin in the global counterfeit market. Following the massive success of 'Queen of Tears,' Kim Soo-hyun's next project was highly anticipated, with a reported production budget of approximately 60 billion won.
Most of the filming for 'Knockoff' was completed, with Season 1 set to premiere in April and Season 2 later this year. However, recent allegations that Kim Soo-hyun had a relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron during her teenage years have changed the situation. The growing public criticism of Kim Soo-hyun has led to the drama's release schedule being put on hold.
Due to the controversy surrounding his personal life, Kim Soo-hyun's advertising and broadcasting activities have hit a snag. Companies that had hired him as a model are now halting advertisements or canceling contracts altogether. Additionally, MBC's 'Good Day,' which gained attention for Kim Soo-hyun's appearance, announced that the 6th episode, originally scheduled for release on the 23rd, will be canceled as part of a "program restructuring" effort.
