Director Min Kyu-dong's latest film, 'The Old Woman with the Knife,' has been officially invited to compete in the 43rd Brussels Fantastic Film Festival.

The Brussels Fantastic Film Festival, which runs from April 8 to April 20, is considered one of the world's top three fantastic film festivals, alongside the Sitges Film Festival and Fantasporto. Among Korean films, 'Exhuma' was officially invited to the international competition in 2024, and 'Sleep' won the Best New Director award.

The festival organizers praised 'The Old Woman with the Knife,' stating, "With Lee Hye-young's intense portrayal of a deadly elder that rivals John Wick, Min Kyu-dong delivers a visually stunning thriller." They expressed anticipation for the emergence of a unique character and a well-crafted film unlike anything seen before.

This invitation marks the third collaboration between Director Min Kyu-dong and the Brussels Fantastic Film Festival, making it particularly significant. Min Kyu-dong was first invited with his debut film, 'Memento Mori,' and later won the Silver Raven Award with 'Horror Stories 2.' Earlier this year, 'The Old Woman with the Knife' was officially invited to the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, gaining early recognition as a global sensation. The film continues to receive international attention, heightening expectations for a well-made action drama.

'The Old Woman with the Knife' is an action drama that depicts the intense showdown between 'Jogak,' a legendary killer who has been part of an organization dealing with cockroach-like humans for over 40 years, and 'Tuu,' a mysterious killer who has pursued him all his life. Lee Hye-young is set to deliver a charismatic performance as a killer in her 60s, showcasing intense action scenes.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release on May 1.
