Actor Lee Je-hoon has won the Friends Award at the 3rd Korean Arthouse Association Awards.
On March 7, at the 3rd Korean Arthouse Association Awards (hereafter referred to as the KACAA Awards) held at the cultural complex "Pangta Garage," Lee Je-hoon received the newly established Friends Award. His contributions to promoting art cinemas and independent films through his YouTube channel "Je-hoon Cine" were recognized.
Through "Je-hoon Cine," Lee Je-hoon has actively promoted small local theaters such as Go-Cine in Wonju, Mirim Theater in Incheon, Shortrong in Jeju, Gwangju Theater, and Mu-myeong Theater in Gangneung. He has also highlighted prominent art cinemas in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas, including the Myung Film Art Center in Paju and Art House Momo in Seoul.
In a video message, Lee Je-hoon expressed, "I am honored to have my work in promoting small theaters and independent films recognized. I will continue to work hard with my love for cinema."
The Korean Arthouse Association Awards celebrate independent art films screened in Korean art cinemas throughout the year, as well as the filmmakers and their activities in the independent film sector.
This year, the Grand Prize was awarded to the "Film Industry Crisis Recovery Filmmakers Alliance." Amid ongoing challenges in the Korean film industry, this alliance has been at the forefront of advocating for improvements across the industry and supporting independent films, while also voicing concerns regarding government film policies.
The Domestic Film Award went to "House of the Seasons," while the International Film Award was given to "The Zone of Interest." The Audience Award, determined by public voting, was awarded to "The Fall: Director's Cut."
