[SBS Star] Director Bong Joon-ho Called 'Racist' for Forgetting to Name LISA in BLACKPINK Discussion

Director Bong Joon-ho, who recently mentioned that he is a fan of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, is facing backlash from some Thai fans accusing him of being "racist."

On March 3, BuzzFeed Celeb released a video of Bong Joon-ho on YouTube.

In the video, Bong Joon-ho was seen taking part in a Q&A session.

When asked about his favorite K-pop group, he said, "It's BLACKPINK." 

He was then asked to name his favorite member, to which he immediately responded, "ROSÉ, JISOO, JENNIE… everyone." 

And this was where some Thai fans took offense.
Under the video, comments started appearing, saying things like, "So you know all the other members of BLACKPINK but not LISA? Is it because she's not Korean?" and "He must not like LISA, not mentioning her name!" Some even went as far as to call Bong Joon-ho a "racist." 

As Koreans defended him, saying, "Oh, come on! He's a filmmaker in his late 50s—it's totally possible he doesn't remember all their names off the top of his head" and "Seriously...? He’s a racist now just because he forgot to say her name?! Some fans are seriously overreacting," others fired back with comments like, "People around the world are calling him a racist, but Koreans act like only Thai people have an issue with it." sparking heated debates.

Currently, personal attacks about Bong Joon-ho's appearance and more are spreading across social media as well.
