[SBS Entertainment News | Kang Kyung-youn] Yoon Do-hyun (53), the leader of YB Band, is making a return to metal as he celebrates his 30th anniversary in the music industry. He revealed that he became deeply immersed in metal music while battling cancer.

During the listening session for YB Band's 'ODDYSSEY' held at Rolling Hall in Hongdae, Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 17th, Yoon Do-hyun shared, "I've always liked metal music, and over time, I felt the urge to create it. I used to mainly listen to death metal when I was younger, but I lost interest for a while. However, with the emergence of sub-genres in metal, I found my interest rekindled."

Yoon emphasized that the ongoing hiatus from performances due to COVID-19 and his cancer treatment led him to dive deeper into metal music. He humorously noted, "Listening to metal helps me reach a state of ecstasy. My doctor told me to quit drinking and smoking, but he never said anything about quitting metal."

In 2021, Yoon was diagnosed with cancer during a routine health check, and after three years of treatment, he has now been declared cancer-free. Having overcome his illness, he and the members of YB Band have been preparing a metal album for the past two years.

He stated, "Preparing for this album has given me a sports athlete mindset. If we don't practice repeatedly, we can't perform well, so we meet at least 2-3 times a week to rehearse. I think this approach is not bad at all. It's all about continuous practice."

YB Band's 30th-anniversary album 'ODDYSSEY' features a total of six tracks, including 'Voyeurist', 'Orchid', 'StormBorn', 'End And End', 'Rebellion' (feat. Xdinary Heroes), and 'Daydream'. The album is set to be released on the 26th.
