[SBS Star] "I Would've Already Left If..." (G)I-DLE YUQI Addresses Offers She Received from China

K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE's Chinese member YUQI spoke about her recent contract renewal with CUBE Entertainment.

On January 9, YOON of K-pop girl group STAYC and YUQI guested on a YouTube show where the host, fortune-teller Park Sung-jun, reads stars' fortunes based on their birthdates and the features of their faces.

Another host, comedian Eom Ji-yoon, talked about YUQI's recent contract renewal with her agency, CUBE Entertainment.

The host then started to share her speculation on the circumstances surrounding YUQI's contract renewal.

"YUQI already has immense popularity. I bet there were offers from China as the contract renewal season approached. YUQI could have considered moving her field to China since it's such a big market."

YUQI smiled and said, "If I had only thought about making money, I would have already left."
"I decided to focus solely on what I wanted to do. That's one of the reasons why I renewed my contract.", YUQI remarked.

She resumed, "Navigating the audition process as a foreigner in this country was challenging. Since I did well in school, my parents wanted me to take other career paths than becoming a K-pop artist."

"I actually had a huge fight with them before coming to Korea.", the (G)I-DLE member revealed.
YUQI asked the fortune-teller to check her compatibility with SOYEON, the leader of (G)I-DLE.

"SOYEON was born with a strong desire to be recognized; she's similar to you in that part. Mutual respect would be the key between you two. Since SOYEON's communication skills are a bit better than yours, she could help you in that area.", the fortune-teller said.

YUQI replied, "That's so true. Among the (G)I-DLE members, SOYEON unnie is the one I most clash with. Both of us have strong personalities."

Meanwhile, every member of (G)I-DLE renewed their contracts with CUBE Entertainment in December last year.
