[SBS Star] "When I Slapped Myself, the Director Said..." Lee Byung Hun Tells a Funny Story from 'Squid Game 2'

Actor Lee Byung Hun shared an amusing behind-the-scenes story about the spinning top game in "Squid Game 2."

On January 1, Netflix Korea released a reaction video on its official YouTube channel featuring Lee Byung Hun and other cast members of "Squid Game 2," including Lee Jung Jae, Kang Ha Neul, Lee Seo-hwan, and Jo Yuri.

In the video, there was a part where Lee Byung Hun specifically talked about slapping his own cheek after failing the spinning top game during the six-legged relay race.

Looking back on the shoot, he said, "When we filmed that scene, I actually slapped myself pretty hard. The director wanted to avoid outtakes, so I think we wrapped it up in about three takes."

He laughed, adding, "The director wasn't worried about me getting hurt but was concerned that the bruise might be too visible for makeup to cover."
Lee Seo-hwan also commented on Lee Byung Hun's spinning top game scene, saying, "Byung Hun kept messing up the scene because he was too skilled at spinning the top, even though he was supposed to fail. The top just kept spinning perfectly, even when he threw it casually or with his eyes closed. At one point, he even flung it backward, and it still spun well."

Lee Byung Hun explained with a smile, "A few months before filming, the production team gave me the spinning top, so I practiced tying it quickly and throwing it successfully whenever I had time. That preparation seemed to help during the shoot."
