[SBS Star] Park Ha Seon & SOYOU Open Up About Being Victims of Deepfake Crimes
Actress Park Ha Seon and SOYOU of K-pop girl group SISTAR shared that they were victims of deepfake crimes.

On December 30 episode of MBC's television show "Hidden Eye," the show delved into the issue of deepfake crimes.

During the broadcast, one of the hosts Park Ha Seon revealed that she was a victim of deepfake-related sexual crimes.

The actress shared, "Someone reached out to me on social media to let me know. The moment I saw the images, it felt like all the blood in my body was rushing backward—I'd never felt anything like it before."

She went on to explain that she decided to take legal action. "I ended up suing the perpetrator, and the trial lasted about three years. When they finally caught the person, I found out it was a university professor. That was just unbelievable."

She further explained, "When older fans approach me for photos, I sometimes link arms with them for the picture. The perpetrator used such photos to commit the crime. They kept appealing, but eventually received a fine."

Another host SOYOU also disclosed that she had been a victim of deepfake crimes.

"I, too, have been a deepfake victim. It was about 10 years ago, back when the term 'deepfake' didn't even exist. A friend showed me a video and asked, 'Is this you?' I checked the site, and I was so shocked. I froze and thought, 'What is this?'"

She then revealed that the problem has not gone away. "Even this year, fans have reported these videos to me," she said.

She added, "At first, just seeing the pictures didn't affect me much because they were just too absurd. But watching the videos, I kept feeling increasingly uneasy."

Both stars emphasized how deeply unsettling these experiences have been, shedding light on the ongoing issue of deepfake crimes.
