[SBS Star] Kim Jae Joong's Mother Recalls How She Decided to Adopt Him Despite Already Having 8 Kids

The adoptive mother of K-pop boy group JYJ member Kim Jae Joong recounted the moment she decided to be his mother.

On December 24, Kim Jae Joong and his mother guested on KBS' talk show 'Morning Forum'.

Previously, Kim Jae Joong shared that he was adopted into his current family when he was three years old.

The singer recently showed his close relationship with his eight older sisters on KBS' other television show 'Fun Staurant'.

On 'Morning Forum', Kim Jae Joong's mother talked about the moment she decided to adopt the singer even though she already had eight children.
"I could never forget that day when a female acquaintance brought him to me. She said he had a story and asked me to raise him. 'I've got many kids of my own. I'm not sure if I could.', I said. However, she insisted, saying she knows I'll raise him well."

She continued, "I looked at the child and saw how adorable he was and how his eyes shone. 'How could one leave him?', I thought, and held him into my arms. Wrapped in my arms, he said, 'Mommy, Mommy', and it touched my heart. 'How could I give you to someone else?', I thought. He was hugging my neck tightly and calling me Mommy."

"I decided to take him as my son from then on. 'I don't know if I could raise you right, but let's do this. We'd follow wherever life may lead us.', I thought."
"I took him into my family even though I already had many children and the money was tight. I figured I could put one more spoon on the table and scoop another bowl of rice, and the kids could grow together.", she remembered.

"And the child turned out to be a wonderful person. He's such a devoted son. He's the most loving and devoted son in the whole wide world. Thank you, my darling.", she added, tears welling in her eyes as she lovingly stroked Kim Jae Joong's face.
Kim Jae Joong remarked, "I'm grateful. No matter the reason, she took me in and raised me healthy. That means the world to me."

"Ever since my 'Fun Staurant' episode aired, I've been getting a lot of questions. People call me a devoted son, but I don't know. What I did for my parents was my rightful duty as their son. If it seemed special, that's because it got broadcasted.", the singer humbly added.
