On November 27, an interview with Ji Chang Wook for the Disney+ original series "Gangnam B-Side" was held at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.
"Gangnam B-Side" is a crime drama centered on three individuals—a detective and prosecutor searching for Jae-hee, a former key figure of the Gangnam club scene who has disappeared, and a mysterious broker.
The three become entangled for different reasons as they pursue hidden events behind Gangnam's glamorous facade.
Ji Chang Wook plays Yoon Gil-ho, a mysterious broker who once controlled the Gangnam club scene and now finds himself a suspect.
He added, "I don't particularly enjoy filming action scenes. Somehow, action has always ended up being part of my projects. Whether I like it or not, I have to do a good job and create something great when I'm working. Fortunately, many people seem to find my action scenes impactful, and they've given me a lot of compliments."
Reflecting on a memorable moment, he said, "During 'Gangnam B-Side,' it was manageable, but while filming 'The Worst of Evil,' I couldn't finish an action scene and just collapsed on the ground."
He continued, "I thought to myself, 'It must be because of my age. In the past, I could've done this 100 times, but now I'm out of breath after just this much.' But seeing older senior actors continuing to push through inspires me. It makes me think, 'I can still do more; maybe I don't need to worry about my age yet.' That thought gives me reassurance."
Expressing his aspirations, he exclaimed, "I really want to do a rom-com. I've been keeping an eye out for opportunities because I want to do one so badly."
He added, "As for action, well, if they pay me, I'll do it. If a good project comes along, I won't say no. Even though I claim to dislike action, if the role and the script are compelling, I'll take it."
