[SBS Star] Highlight Yang Yoseop Tells Why He Still Takes Vocal Lessons
K-pop boy group Highlight's main vocal Yang Yoseop told the reasons why he still takes vocal lessons.

On June 20 episode of MBC's variety show 'Radio Star', Yang Yoseop was invited to join the talk as a guest.

During the talk, one of the hosts Kim Gu-ra mentioned how an accomplished main vocalist Yang Yoseop is, and the amount of effort he puts into improving his singing skills.

Kim Gu-ra said, "I heard that you still take vocal lessons despite already possessing immense talent in singing. Is this true?".

Yang Yoseop responded, "Yeah, it is. There was this time when I stopped attending a vocal academy out of arrogance, but about a year or two ago, I came to realize that I should treat my vocal cords like muscles. Just like maintaining muscle mass and strength on one's body, I think it is important to keep using your vocal cords. So, I make sure that I go to the academy even when I don't have any plans to sing in front of the audience."

Then, another host Cha Tae Hyun asked, "But you are already good at singing. Do the lessons actually help you? Do they make you a better singer?".

Yang Yoseop answered, "There is a difference between practicing singing on your own, and having a professional guide you in the right direction. You know there is the 10,000-Hour Rule (the principle holds that 10,000 hours of 'deliberate practice' are needed to become world-class in any field). I'm trying to fill the 10,000 hours with those useful vocal lessons."

As it has been almost nine years since Yang Yoseop's debut as a singer, his great dedication to work was praised by many viewers after this episode was aired.
