[SBS Star] Hyoyeon's Thoughtful Response to the Strict Beauty Standard Impresses People

Hyoyeon from K-pop girl group Girls' Generation impressed the public with her own distinctive way of thinking for the society's strict beauty standard.

On May 25 episode of JTBC4's 'Secret Sister', Hyoyeon and Wheein from K-pop girl group MAMAMOO had meals together and openly talked about their struggles. When Wheein said, "I feel like the beauty standard is too strict.", Hyoyeon responded with a mature attitude, saying, "We make our own beauty standards." She emphasized, "We should just love ourselves first." Hyoyeon's concise yet thoughtful response surprised Wheein.

After the encounter, Hyoyeon honestly revealed her thoughts from the show's interview.

She said, "You know, everyone has different beauty standards. Of course, there's this type of face people often prefer." Hyoyeon continued, "But at one point, I realized that I've been taking the path of what they like. Because I was trying to fit myself into the standard of others, I couldn't love myself."

She noted, "I continuously tried to change myself, and from the fact that I've been changed, I was confused to think of who I really was."

Hyoyeon highlighted, "Everyone has his/her good qualities. I hope Wheein finds her own." Hyoyeon's sincere response touched the hearts of many viewers of the show.
