김선일씨 유족 '화해와 용서'의 메시지

고 김선일씨 영결식이 30일 '이라크와 전세계에 용서와 화해의 메시지'를 전하며 범기독교장으로 거행됐습니다.

'고 김선일 기독연합장례위원회' 주관으로 부산 사직실내체육관에서 치러진 영결식에서 유족대표인 김씨의 형 진국씨는 '이라크를 향하여 전세계로'란 용서와 화해의 메시지를 영어와 아랍어 통역을 통해 전세계에 전달했습니다.

다음은 영결식에서 형 진국씨가 낭독한 '이라크를 용서합니다. 당신들을 사랑합니다'란 제하의 메시지 전문입니다.

"이역만리 이라크 땅에서 날아든 비통한 소식앞에 형제들은 밤새 울부짖었고,어머니 아버지는 혼절하여 몇번을 넘어졌습니다. 선일이가 납치되어 죽음에 이르기까지의 과정이 알려지면서 살을 도려내는 슬픔은 억누룰 수 없는 분노로 바뀌었습니다.

가족들의 분노가 선일이의 억울한 죽음을 조금이라도 웅변할 수 있으리라 생각했었습니다.

그러나 선일이는 죽은 것이 아니었습니다. 영원히 우리곁을 떠난 것이 아니었습니다. 우리앞에 죽지 않고 남겨진 선일이의 꿈이 있었습니다. 생명이 위험할지라도 영원히 품고 사랑하고자 했던 '이라크' 였습니다.

그 여린 생명을 바쳐 드러내고자 했던 선일이의 꿈을 우리가 알게된 순간, 분노와 슬픔만으로는 선일이의 마음을 웅변할 수 없음을 알았습니다. 우리의 분노는 사라지기 시작했습니다.

선일이가 죽기까지 당신들을 사랑했듯이 그 사랑으로 우리 모두는 당신들을 용서합니다, 그리고 이번의 일을 지켜본 우리 모두가 당신들과 당신들의 나라 이라크를 사랑하는 것이 바로 선일이의 꿈이었음을 이 시간에 선일이를 대신하여 당신들에게 전하고 싶습니다.

한국이 이라크를 사랑하는 것, 세계가 이라크를 사랑하는 것, 그리고 우리 모두가 하나되어 우리 모두를 사랑하는 것 안에 선일의 꽃피우고자 했던 꿈이 있었음을 전하고 싶습니다.

그리고 그 꿈은 하나님이 인류를 사랑하시는 마음에서부터 출발하였다는 것을 하나님께서 우리에게 전하여 주셨듯이 선일이를 천국으로 환송하는 이 자리에서, 선일이와 영원히 헤어져야 하는 이자리에서 슬픔과 고통의 언덕을 넘어 떨리는 목소리로 고백합니다.

이라크를 용서합니다. 당신들을 사랑합니다."

'Embrace the Nation of Iraq, Love the People of Iraq'

Faced with the tragic news from the land of Iraq thousands of miles away,Brothers and sisters cried out all night, And father and mother fainted and fell to the ground again and again. When we were told of what Sunil endured from kidnap to death, Our heart-wrenching grief turned into uncontainable rage.

We thought that his family's rage could somehow speak for his unjust death. But Sunil did not die. He did not leave our side Forever.

We have Sunil's dream with us which did not die. His dream was to love and forever embrace the nation of Iraq, even at the risk of death. The moment we learned of Sunil's dream for which he was willing go sacrifice his fragile life, We realized that we could not speak for Sunil's heart with only grief and rage. Our rage began to subside.

Just like Sunil who loved you to his death, All of us embrace and love you with his love. And we want to tell you today on Sunil's behalf. That Sunil's very dream was for all of us who were witnesses to Sunil's tragedy.

To love you and your nation of Iraq.

We want to tell you that the dream blossoming in Sunil's heart was love Korea's love for Iraq. The world's love for Iraq, And our love for each other by becoming one. And we want to tell you that this dream was birthed by God's love for all humanity.

At this place where we now send Sunil to heaven, At this place Where we now part with Sunil forever while we are on this earth. We cross the river of grief and pain to profess with voices trembling. We want to weep, but instead we profess with joy.

We embrace the nation of Iraq. We love the people of Iraq.
