Actor Song Joong Ki revealed the reason why he chose to star in the upcoming drama 'Arthdal Chronicles' as his comeback project.
Ahead of the upcoming premiere of the drama on June 1, Song Joong Ki shared words on his decision to participate in the drama after falling for the show's mysterious charm.
Song Joong Ki said, "I remember when the director and the screenwriter explained the overall atmosphere of this drama to me before I received the actual script. The first impression I got was that it is a fun historical story. It was a similar mysterious feeling to the first time I saw ancient Greek and Roman mythology when I was little."
He continued, "I found the general narrative of the story to be very interesting, and was surprised that each character has their own story and color."
Song Joong Ki also said that his character, 'Eun-seom', was the one of the biggest reasons for him to choose this drama.
Song Joong Ki shared, "As the character with the most growth and maturation, I related a lot to how 'Eun-seom' thought a lot about his identity. Although he is a heartbroken one, he does not give up and do his best to find the path in his life. I really wanted to portray such pain and innocent side of 'Eun-seom'."
Song Joong Ki takes the role of 'Eun-seom', the son of 'Asahon' (actress Choo Ja Hyun) and a member of the Wahan tribe, paired with 'Tan Ya' (actress Kim Ji Won), who is the successor of the tribe.
'Eun-seom' holds a secretive identity of being born between a human mother and a Neanderthal, giving him an unique appearance, skills, and personality.
'Arthdal Chronicles' is set air its first episode on June 1 at 9PM KST.
