K-pop girl group Red Velvet's member JOY was seen getting extremely frightened of loud fireworks that set off at the end of the group's performance at a festival.
On May 11, Red Velvet was invited to perform at '2019 Iseul Live Festival' which was taken place in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do.
On this day, Red Velvet showed its flawless performance to three of its hit songs including 'Red Flavor', 'With You', and 'Really Bad Boy'.
At the end of the last song when each member posed with confidence, fireworks suddenly set off.Although the fireworks were not set off near her, they were loud enough to make JOY scared.
Just as when she heard the sound, she covered her ears and panicked.
Then, she quickly fled to the side of the stage and crouched down under a large object.
There, some staff helped her calm down and supported her back to the waiting room while the rest of the group members said goodbye to the audience.Later that day, JOY posted an apology on the group's social media account.
JOY said, "I'm sorry, Reveluv (the name of Red Velvet's fan club). After seeing fireworks being set off right in front of me in the past, they began to terrify me."
She continued, "Not only I had no idea the fireworks were going to be set off at that very moment, but I also heard ringing in my ears at that time. I'm sorry about leaving the stage without saying goodbye to you earlier. Sorry for making you worry as well. I'm okay now."
Lastly, she added, "I always want to do well on stage, but I feel like I become unprofessional when something happens out of the blue. I honestly dislike myself for that. I'll try my best so that this sort of things don't happen again in the future."
Meanwhile, Red Velvet released a Japanese version of another one of its hit songs 'Power Up' on April 24.
