[SBS Star] Park Jung Min Recounts the Unforgettable Moment From His First Time Working with JISOO

As a big fan of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK member JISOO, actor Park Jung Min shared what it was like to play the role of her boyfriend.

On January 7, the press conference for Coupang Play's new series 'Newtopia' was held at the Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeouido.

In the romance fantasy series 'Newtopia', Park Jung Min played 'Lee Jae-yoon', a soldier, while JISOO played his girlfriend, 'Kang Young-ju'.

The two leads attended the event with director Yoon Sung-hyun.
Park Jung Min talked about the first time he worked with JISOO when she cameoed in the 2023 movie 'Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman'.

"After I joined the film's cast, the production asked my opinion on casting JISOO as a seonnyeo (Korean traditional fairy) that my shaman character serves."

"Having been a huge fan of her work as an artist and actress, I said it's not my place to discuss opinions about her.", the actor remarked.
Park Jung Min resumed, "I witnessed a magical moment at the 'Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman' filming site. JISOO was shooting a scene where she was up in the air; the lighting was falling on her, making her look like a seonnyeo."

"At that moment, every staff member watched the monitor with breathless attention. It was a sight I had never seen before."

"And I was one of them who was watching the monitor intently. I remember how astounded I was by JISOO's presence and her stunning performance."

"I couldn't even make myself talk to her back then. Instead, I asked Kim Jong Soo sunbae-nim to get her autograph for me. He said he got her autograph on his folding fan; he didn't give it to me, though.", the actor added, making everyone laugh.
Park Jung Min shared how much of a JISOO fan he is and how special it was to work with her in 'Newtopia'.

The actor said he had BLACKPINK CDs with JISOO's autographs that he keeps in his place like a treasure.

"There's a cabinet at my place where I only keep the most valuable items. Those CDs are at the forefront of it.", the actor shared.

"I have two autographed CDs from JISOO. I got one of those by asking actress Kim Go-eun a favor. 'Park Jung Min sunbae-nim, thanks for rooting for me.', JISOO wrote on that CD. Then, on another one, she wrote, 'Jung Min oppa, I'm looking forward to working with you.'."

"I feel proud when I see those CDs next to each other. Seeing them makes me want to continue working hard.", the actor remarked.

"I never even imagined one day I would be chatting informally with JISOO and working with her. What an honor that is.", he added.
