[SBS Star] "Haters Would..." Yoon Ji Sung Reveals He Cried & Begged His Agency to Let Him Leave Wanna One

Disbanded project K-pop boy group Wanna One's leader Yoon Ji Sung shared that he desperately wanted to leave Wanna One at one point. 

On September 27, KBS' upcoming show 'Ok? Ok!' pre-released a footage from their first episode. 

In this footage, Yoon Ji Sung was seen speaking to well-known psychiatrist Dr. Oh Eun-young. 

Yoon Ji Sung said, "From the moment when I appeared on 'Produce 101 Season 2' until now, I've been the target of criticism and derision. I've heard a lot of people say so many bad things about me." 

He continued, "For instance, during the third round on 'Produce 101 Season 2', the production team took us out so that we could see how recognized we were in public. Lots of people gathered around us, and some shook my hand, saying that they were my fan. I thanked each one of them." 

He went on, "But after the shooting, I went on the Internet and discovered some posts that said things like, 'I told Yoon Ji Sung that I was a fan, and he seemed really happy about it. He had no idea that I actually hate him. What an idiot.' I became shocked by those posts." 
Then, Yoon Ji Sung specified reasons why he was hated that much back then. 

Yoon Ji Sung commented, "I was too old to make debut, wasn't amazing at singing or dancing, and wasn't very good-looking, but I had somehow managed to make debut as Wanna One. They were like, 'Why the heck is someone like Yoon Ji Sung part of Wanna One?', 'I wish he would just leave Wanna One.', 'Seriously? You're too old for this. Know yourself, Yoon Ji Sung!' and so on."

The K-pop star resumed, "Those hate comments gave me a really difficult time. I even went to see our agency head to let me leave Wanna One. I cried and begged. Even though I was going through such a tough time, I had to pretend that everything was okay. I didn't want haters to see me go down because of the stuff that they said about me." 

He added, "After that, it's become my habit to tell everybody that I was doing just fine. I didn't want my fans to see me being defeated by them and their words." 
Yoon Ji Sung debuted as the leader of 11-member project group Wanna One, which debuted following their appearance on 'Produce 101 Season 2'. 

Wanna One kicked off the group's promotion in August 2017, then officially wrapped it up with their final concert 'Therefore' in January 2019. 

After Wanna One's disbandment, Yoon Ji Sung went solo, and also began his career as a stage actor.
