Actors Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana are set to star in the Netflix series 'Scandal' (working title).

'Scandal' (working title) is a Netflix series that tells the story of 'Lady Jo', a woman of exceptional talent trapped by the constraints of the Joseon era, and 'Jo Won', the greatest playboy of the time, as they engage in a daring and dangerous love wager. The series is based on the 2003 film 'Untold Scandal'.

The original film transposed Pierre Choderlos de Laclos's 'Dangerous Liaisons', a novel about the decadent French aristocracy before the French Revolution, to the Joseon era, where love and seduction were forbidden. The film was praised for its beautiful yet audacious portrayal of fatal seduction, betrayal, and revenge among the nobility.

Despite its restricted rating, the original film attracted 3.52 million viewers, captivating audiences with its engaging narrative, stunning costumes, and art direction. Fans are eager to see how the Netflix series will evolve from the original.

Set in the Joseon era, where desire itself was taboo, 'Scandal' (working title) will depict the thrilling story of those who challenge strict Confucian norms with their bold love and seduction games.

Son Ye-jin, known for her irreplaceable roles in dramas like 'Crash Landing on You' and 'Something in the Rain', as well as films like 'The Classic' and 'Be with You', will play 'Lady Jo'. Despite her talents and charm, she faces the harsh reality of being a woman in a time when she could do nothing. She engages in a secret love wager, showcasing her strategic prowess by proposing the game of seduction to 'Jo Won', who admires her.

Ji Chang-wook, who has shown a range of intense and gentle performances in Netflix's 'The Sound of Magic', the film 'Revolver', and dramas like 'Backstreet Rookie' and 'The Worst of Evil', will play 'Jo Won'. He is a charming man who enjoys romance without believing in love, and he will stop at nothing to win 'Lady Jo's' heart in the wager.

Nana, who has displayed her unique presence in Netflix series like 'Mask Girl' and 'Glitch', as well as films like 'Confession' and 'The Swindlers', will portray 'Hui-yeon'. She is a widow trying to maintain her virtue while resisting 'Jo Won's' advances. However, she finds herself drawn to him, revealing her complex inner emotions.

The series will be directed and written by Jung Ji-woo, a renowned Korean film director known for works like 'Tune in for Love' and 'Happy End'. This marks his first series project following Netflix's 'Somebody'. Jung Ji-woo is expected to bring out the actors' charms by focusing on the intricate emotions and dangerous relationships between the characters. Writers Lee Seung-young, known for 'The Art of Negotiation', and Ahn Hye-song, who adapted 'Somebody', will join the scriptwriting team. The production will be handled by Movie Rock, known for films like 'The Witness' and 'Midnight Runners', adding credibility to the project.

With production confirmed, 'Scandal' (working title) is anticipated to showcase a unique chemistry between Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana, and will be available on Netflix.
