Last week, a computer system error at Coupang Eats led to a series of cancelled deliveries. Did posts uploaded by some delivery workers featuring photos of undelivered food spark a controversy?
Yes, it happened around midnight the day before yesterday (October 10). A system outage occurred across Coupang and Coupang Eats, lasting for about three hours.
Some delivery workers were unable to check customer addresses even after picking up the food, meaning they could not complete the deliveries.
In such cases, delivery platforms instruct workers to dispose of the food themselves.
However, controversy arose afterward when some delivery workers posted photos of the undelivered food they ate, accompanied by comments such as "Thank you to whoever ordered the assorted raw fish" and "I set up a feast with disposed food."
Netizens criticized the posts, saying, "Think about how frustrating it must have been for the customers who never got their food" and "Those expressions are mocking no matter how you look at it."
On the other hand, some counterargued that since the food was destined to be discarded anyway because delivery was impossible, it is difficult to take issue with the workers simply eating it.
