U.S. President Donald Trump and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will meet in New York on the 21st local time.
The City of New York announced on the 20th that President Trump is scheduled to visit Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the New York mayor, on the 21st to meet with Mayor Mamdani.
The city explained that "this meeting will focus on issues affecting New York City and its residents."
No other specific details were disclosed.
President Trump is scheduled to visit New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly opening on the 22nd.
This will be the third meeting between President Trump and Mayor Mamdani, who are known as political rivals.
Mayor Mamdani previously met with President Trump at the White House in November of last year when he was mayor-elect and in February of this year after taking office.
President Trump, who has maintained hardline policies on cultural and immigration issues, and Mayor Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist with progressive views, sit on opposite ends of the political spectrum.
Unlike during the election when they exchanged sharp criticisms and formed opposing fronts, their previous two meetings took place in an unexpectedly friendly atmosphere.
In particular, during their February meeting, they explored practical cooperation, such as discussing New York housing development projects.
