The military has launched an investigation into allegations that a female Army captain suffered a miscarriage due to harassment by her superior.
Claims have emerged that a lieutenant colonel, identified as A, assigned to the Capital Corps, subjected subordinates, including a captain identified as B, to verbal abuse and unfair orders.
It is reported that the harsh treatment did not cease even after Captain B reported her pregnancy.
When Captain B requested to use the "maternity protection time" system, which allows pregnant service members to take two hours off per day, Lieutenant Colonel A allegedly created an intimidating atmosphere, effectively preventing her from using the benefit.
Additional allegations include forcing Captain B to arrive at work early to deliver documents by climbing the stairs of a six-story building, and insisting that she wear full military gear during training, claiming that because she was in the early stages of pregnancy, her "belly had not yet shown."
Struggling with the verbal abuse and harassment, Captain B suffered from repeated vaginal bleeding and ultimately lost her baby at 10 weeks of pregnancy.
The Army stated that upon becoming aware of the incident, it immediately separated Lieutenant Colonel A from the unit and is currently taking measures to protect Captain B.
The Army stated, "We are thoroughly verifying the objective facts and will take strict measures in accordance with law and regulations based on the results of the investigation."
