Park In-seo, the 8th newly appointed president of the Incheon Port Corporation (IPA), officially assumed office and began his official duties today (November 2).
During his inauguration ceremony held at the IPA, President Park stated, "I will become a problem solver who swiftly untangles long-standing, unresolved issues," adding, "We will swiftly implement the innovation tasks right before us."
He further emphasized, "We will strive to strengthen port competitiveness and foster coexistence with the local community so that the development of Incheon Port leads directly to the development of Incheon."
As four key tasks, President Park presented the substantive promotion of the Inner Port Piers 1 and 8 redevelopment project, the revitalization of the artificial intelligence (AI) auto valley project and the establishment of a strategy to attract investment for Golden Harbor, the timely opening of the Incheon New Port Phase 1-2 pier, and the diversification of shipping routes and cargo volume.
The redevelopment of Inner Port Piers 1 and 8, which aims to create an urban space centered on maritime culture, serves as the first stepping stone for the "Jemubu (Jemulpo, Munhak, Bupyeong) Project," a core pledge by Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae of the 9th popular election.
President Park is only the second head of the IPA to come from a background outside of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
Except for the 4th president, Yoo Chang-geun, who came from Hyundai Merchant Marine, all former presidents from the 1st to the 7th terms were bureaucrats from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
