Currently, Typhoon Champi, the 30th typhoon, is moving northward from waters east of Taiwan.

While the typhoon is headed toward Japan, it is expected to come closest to Jeju early Monday morning.

As a result, high seas advisories are currently in effect for the southern and Jeju seas, while strong wind and heavy rain advisories have also been issued for Jeju.

The southern coast and Jeju will be lashed by gusts with maximum instantaneous wind speeds reaching 20 meters per second through Monday, the day after tomorrow (October 26).

Looking at the current radar imagery, rain clouds are blanketing regions down to Chungcheong and points south, with rainfall of about 8mm per hour being recorded in Jeju.

Heavy rain is forecast to concentrate until Tuesday morning, with over 200mm expected in mountainous areas of Jeju and more than 100mm along the southern coast of Gyeongsangnam-do. These areas will see intense downpours of 20 to 30mm per hour.

Checking today's daytime temperatures, Seoul is at 20°C (68°F) and Ulsan is at 19°C (66°F), similar to average years.

Rain along the coasts is expected to continue until Monday morning, and temperatures are projected to drop sharply next Wednesday.
