Temperatures to Rise Again; Rain in Jeju and Southern Regions From Afternoon Due to Typhoon

The morning chill lingered in various regions today (October 23).

However, the cold will not stay long.

Starting from this afternoon, temperatures will rise back above average levels.

In particular, Sunday's daytime high in Seoul is expected to climb to 24°C (75°F), about 6 degrees higher than normal.

Let us take a closer look at today's daytime temperatures by region.

Seoul is expected to reach a high of 21°C (70°F), while Daejeon and Daegu are forecasted at 22°C (72°F).

Meanwhile, Typhoon Champi is currently located in the waters southeast of Taiwan.

While it will not directly affect South Korea, indirect effects will bring rain to the Jeju region starting this afternoon, which will expand to South Jeolla and South Gyeongsang provinces by tonight.

By tomorrow, the rain clouds will spread to the southern regions, and by the day after tomorrow, to the Chungcheong and Gangwon regions.

In particular, this rain will pour heavily and in large amounts over the Jeju region.

As intense downpours of 20 to 30 millimeters per hour are expected between tonight and early tomorrow morning, thorough preparations must be made to prevent rain damage.

After the rain clouds pass, the cold will return once again.

Especially on Wednesday, Seoul's morning low is expected to plummet to 2°C (36°F), marking the coldest day this autumn.
