At least 139 people have died and 80 others are missing after a boat carrying migrants capsized off the coast of Djibouti in northeastern Africa, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN agency.
According to the agency, the vessel capsized between the night of October 8 and the early hours of October 9 off the coast near Obock, a northern port city in Djibouti, while carrying 350 people toward Yemen.
Among the 139 bodies recovered, 15 were children, and about 80 survivors were all confirmed to be Ethiopian nationals.
The agency stated that the current death toll only accounts for bodies recovered and buried by Djiboutian authorities, adding that the actual number of fatalities could rise further.
